The "dreck" card
I am delighted to report that the cluster has been fixed, and is happily clustering once more. We finally got our 4 hour downtime, and were able to determine that it really was a hardware problem - the DRAC card was broken. (Which is somewhat ironic, if you think about it. But don't think about it too much). My wish is to actually have all the DRAC cards working by the end of the summer. That, and peace in the Middle East.
So John, if you are reading this - blessed redudancy has been restored, and all is once again well in the 100 acre wood. Just in case you were still worried about us.
Happy Friday to all.

that really is an unfortunate acronym.
Indeed it is, but also, quite appropriate.
how did the drac card bring down po+oh?
because real estate agents couldn't configure a cluster.
Only brought down Po. First the failover stopped working, and eventually, Po wouldn't boot up. Dell tech walked us through it, and when we popped out the DRAC card, all was happy.
By the way, CUIT installed some massive junk in the machine room, and it's extremely loud (think, rocket engine) so making calls from there is even more difficult now.
Also by the way, we couldn't get the cover back onto Po. We tried for a long long LONG time. When the Dell technician came to install the new DRAC card, he just popped it right on. How awkward.... "uh yea, we meant to leave like that... for ventilation."
why do we say "drac card"? it's like saying "ERD disk". but we do that too. ugh computer acronyms could use some help ya know.
it's just RAS syndrome (Redundant Acronym...)
You'd figure that there would be at least one Jewish person working at Dell who would speak up about this... "hey guys maybe we shouldn't call it the dreck card".
