it's fermented bean curd (tofu) seasoned with a bit of salt and spicy peppers. chinese moms like mine use it (sparingly) when stir frying vegetables. however, my mom says that the brand you're holding is um... made in china? and that makes it not so desirable.
Thanks Anthony, you are the greatest (even though you are still a little bit dead to me). I bought this thinking that it's some sort of kimchi-flavored bean curd. But it wasn't refrigerated. And it smelled kind of odd. I guess that's where the "fermented" part comes in.
Zach, I have no idea. Maybe you can help me fix it during "regular business hours."
