Scapegoat
Who should be fired? Here is my list:
1. Joe Torre has to go. It's time. See ya.
2. Sheffield.
3. Mussina.
4. Pretty much anyone over the age of 30 whose name doesn't rhyme with "neater" or "armada."
Discuss.
We aim to please. Ourselves, mostly, but we do aim to please.

i notice that you didn't include A-Rod in that list? So you buy into the media frenzy against Torre but not the one against A-Rod? Or is he included in number 4 on the list?
My list:
1. A-Rod
2. Sheff.
3. Torre.
4. Mussina.
As a Red Sox fan - so from the outside looking in - I find the whole 'fire Torre' thing fascinating. I don't watch enough Yankee games to know how Torre handles his lineups or if he's a good in-game manager, but over the past ten years he seems to have managed the egos in that potential tinderbox of a clubhouse (as well as in the owner's suite) with great skill and discretion.
Maybe I'm way off the mark, but it seems to me that the Yankees lost the ALDS because they were out-pitched and because their Murderers' Row of a lineup didn't hit a lick. Take Torre out of the equation and do the Yankees beat Detroit? I'm not so sure... There are lineup decisions (Sheffield in Gm 4) that are questionable, but as his own players have said to some extent, he ain't out there on the field.
I would agree with tpmg above - A-Rod is a far bigger problem. He has great numbers (in the regular season...), but he's become the lightning rod for the frustrations of Yankee fans, and that can never be good for a team. Since 2004 I've been hearing that A-Rod will never be considered a true Yankee until he gets it done in the postseason. Well, he's had 3 chances already and he ain't done nothin'. He's not the only problem the Yankees have, but it's getting to the point where he's almost too much of a distraction. As a Red Sox fan, I'd hate to see A-Rod go - it's nice to know there's a guy you can count on to fall apart in the postseason - but if the Yankees can move him, they should.
A-rod has to go. completely agree with above comment. he is a great player but he doesn't fit on this team. clearly it's more about culture and he doesn't fit the culture.
Does armada actually rhyme with posada? It kind of seems that you should have gone with a fake word (blobada) or something even less rhymey like enchilada. And even more importantly is there any possibility that his knees fall off next year? I sez yep. I think he should transitioned onto the bernie "lifer" plan over the next two years if his knees don't fall off.
i know that anyone on the 98 team is untouchable in irina's world, but i think bernie and posada should go. bernie definitely. he's too old. do a whole revamp, ala marlins. that's just what i think.
