TV Quitters
James Braly offered a nice bit on quitting television, this morning on NPR. Save money, free yourself from commercialism, raise healthy and active children... and so on.
We aim to please. Ourselves, mostly, but we do aim to please.

(sigh) if only it worked like that in real life.
I am proud to say that I have been almost completely TV-free for over half a decade now. The down side is that I have simply shifted my attention to a slightly more interactive version of the TV :)
And while I do vastly enjoy living in a complete absence of global and local news, this is also not always good as one is expected to be active in politics and whatnot (I'm not and don't plan to be though)
So anyway, think of it as a revolution, and instead of quitting cold-turkey set out to find a *suitable* replacement first - like friends, family, children, whatnot - because otherwise the vacuum will merely get filled with something just as pointless but even harder to get rid of.
