Meylekh Viswanath added to Sam Kocoarski's plea for computing in Hebrew
letters. I have just purchased an excellent shareware program, "Hebrew
Edit" for $19 US dollars, from "Right to left Software." I use it
directly from my C: Their address is 3332 Yonge St, P.O. Box 94034,
Toronto Ontario, M4N-3R1, Canada. Tel: 416-489-7440. Fax 416-489-6654.
Hardware requirements: ibm-pc or comptible, with vga or ega graphics.
Hebrew keyboard or chip not needed. For printing out -printer compatible
with hp laserjet, deskjet, epson dot-matrix or ibm-proprinter.
Could there be a sub group of mendeleniks with Hebrew font capabilities
who would send occasional brief correspondence in "rikhtige mama-loshn?"

[Meylekh Viswanath writes:]

There must be many programs out there that do this for Hebrew. I have
one called hebtype. It was written Lee Lawrence (leel@cs.colorado.edu)
in 1991 and it's in the public domain. I can send it to anyone who's
interested. You'll need a C compiler to use it. This is the font and
the key mapping:

There is a very good transliteration program on Nisus. All you have to
do is highlight the "transliteration" icon, and the start typing English
letters. For example: an "a" gives you an "aleph", a "b" gives you a
"beys", etc. It's not quite as good as the real thing which Nisus does
extremely well.
