Un yetst gey ikh ariber af english. The shulkhn orukh I have in mind is of course the Table of Contents and perhaps some day a good workable Index. The Table is simply a superset of the Contents that introduce every number of Mendele. But the Table (originally Bob Rothstein's idea and work) can only be as good as what goes into it, and that ultimately depends on what you write as a Subject: line. Readers down the years (even today's readers for that matter) will learn nothing from a Subject: line that reads "Vol6.166". Which is why everyone is asked to write a line that means something. Not just any old line. A line that _means_ something and will maybe be useful to others later on. Here are a few practical suggestions. Your cooperation will make life more instructive and more pleasant for the rest of us. 1. Please restrict your comment or question to a single subject. That way, if you happen to be commenting on or answering an earlier post, yours can be grouped with others that deal with the same topic. If you have more than one question, replies can be more intelligbly grouped. 2. If you're following a thread, the simplest way of handling the Subject: line question (what shall I write?) is to use the same line as the one you're commenting on. 3. If your post is a response to an earlier post, please tell us whose post it is and where it's to be found. Example: "Boris Tomashevsky (Vol 6.133) writes about ...". In the name of our future readers the shames thanks you. Noyekh Miller ______________________________________________________ End of Mendele Vol. 6.148
