This document presents the grades of the Felbinger and related children, excerpted from the register of Ickelheim's school. Children were obliged to attend the "Werktag" school until their 11th/12th year, at which time they were apprenticed to various occupations or otherwise placed in the labor force; they continued to attend the "Sonntag" school on weekends, completing their education while they learned a trade. The register covers the years 1852-1878; this is the only register I found in the Nuremberg archive.
Some of the superscriptions vary slightly through the years. As these changes are relatively minor and appear to make no significant difference in how the children's grades were recorded, I have used one consistant form throughout. The marginal notations of "Werktagsschüler", "Sonntagsschüler" were consistent through 1859. In 1860 these notations were changed to "Werktagsschule", "Sonntagsschule" respectively and continue to the end of the register. To reflect the change I have made the alteration here.)
Censuren = Grades
1 = vorzüglich ("excellent")
2 = sehr gut ("very good")
3 = gut ("good")
4 = hinlängl. oder mittelm. ("satisfactory")
5 = notdürftig ("deficient")
6 = schlecht ("bad" = failing)
1/2 nahe; 3 1/2 gut nahe ("near"; indicates a "minus" grade)
