Annual Report for 2001

The year 2001 is an anniversary year. It is the 100th anniversary of the birth (June 17th) of my father, William Henry George Felbinger (Dad never used "George"). This year's work is dedicated to him.

In March 2001 I traveled to Regensburg, Germany, to visit the Landeskirchenbucharchiv, where I was able to read microfiche copies of the Ickelheim Kirchenbücher. From these registers I have transcribed several entries relating to the Felbingers, beginning with the children of Jobst Felbinger and his wife Sibylla Felbinger (born Schmidt), as the genealogy for my part of the Felbinger family, and its branches into other families into the 21st century, begin with them. Also, Sibylla's children by Johann Sturm, her first husband, play a significant role in Felbinger genealogy, and so I have transcribed their records as well (though for the moment they are not complete). These records begin with Document no. 7 seq. In order to retain some flavor of reading the originals, I will simply transcribe the records in the order in which I found them in the registers.

Through the 19th century, certain individual family members played key roles for subsequent generations. To make the relationships among these individuals clear, I have included an additional chart (Document no. 1A), though the chart itself makes no attempt at completeness in any generation.

Finally, I have made my transcriptions as accurate and complete as possible. Unfortunately, my ability to read old German handwritings is not perfect, and some blank spots and errors appear in the transcriptions. To indicate where my initial readings were unsuccessful, I use various editorial devices to indicate the difficulty. Additionally, I was unable to finish transcribing all the entries in the registers, so I will attempt at a later date to finish the transcriptions, and to proof them.

The work is not complete; further research is required.
