Interactive Health, LLC, established in 1999, is a health consulting, research and development firm. Its mission is to develop and disseminate science-based models of prevention and health promotion. Activities include product development, research and consulting in both the private and public sector. In particular, Interactive Health translates the results of research into practice with a special emphasis on the application of evidence-based methods and interventions that promote health behavior and risk reduction.
Interactive Health was established by Dr. Bonnie Fenster and Dr.. Katherine Roberts. Dr. Fenster holds a masters degree in psychology from Hofstra University and a Ph.D in Applied Research and Program Evaluation also from Hofstra University. Dr. Katherine Roberts holds a doctorate degree in health education from Columbia University's Teachers College, a master degree in public health from Columbia University as well as a master of science in health education from Columbia University. She is a certified health education specialist (CHES), as well as American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) certified health and fitness instructor.
Both Dr. Fenster and Dr. Roberts have extensive experience in data collection and management, research design, questionnaire development, curriculum development and design, focus group testing, and data analysis. In addition, Dr. Roberts is an adjunct professor at Columbia University, teaching Health Education for Teachers. Prior to establishing Interactive Health, Dr. Fenster and Dr.. Roberts were involved with the development and dissemination of the Life Skills Training drug abuse prevention program. In particular, they developed an elementary school version of the program as well as a parent component, provider training materials, program newsletter and website. In addition, Dr. Fenster has managed research projects for the National Cancer Institute, National Institute on Drug Abuse, New York City Board of Education and the New York State Education Department. Currently Dr. Fenster and Dr.. Roberts are part of a team of consultants who evaluate tobacco, alcohol and other drug prevention programs for the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention.
