Lauren Y. Atlas, Ph.D. |
||||
| I'm currently a postdoctoral fellow working with Elizabeth Phelps at NYU's Psychology Department and Center for Neural Sciences.
Prior to coming to NYU, I was a graduate student at Columbia University's Department of Psychology in the SCAN Unit. I conducted my doctoral research under the mentorship of Tor Wager, now at the University of Colorado, Boulder. My research focuses on understanding how expectations shape affective experience. I combine human brain imaging, psychophysiological measures, pharmacological manipulations, and behavioral outcomes to isolate the mechanisms by which beliefs about pain, emotion, and value influence conscious experience.
