Hey Marg,
My name is Scott and I have a rumor I would like to share about Ani.
Actually its not a rumor, its true. I spoke to Gotee man (a sound guy who
works with Ani) and he said she will have a double live CD out around
Christmas time. Finally, a live CD of Ani that we can get our hands on!!!!
Also look for a dance single of Joyful Girl. I dont like that idea, but if
thats what Ani wants, I''ll live with it.
thanks,
Scott
As you may already know, Ani will be at the Ben & Jerry's Folk Festival - Newport this year on Saturday, Aug 10. The official site for the festival is at www.newportfolk.com and B & J has some info at www.benjerry.com/festival/newp96.html where they have set a link to your ANI page. Cheers! Dan

I was at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, where Ani played twice: First in the 8:00 time slot on Thursday night, and for free the next afternoon in a little square called Elks Park, where she answered questions and played a slew of requests despite bitter cold and a stiff wind (makes them lee-press-on-nails mighty cold). Both shows were packed.
Of course, "Not A Pretty Girl" sold out immediately after her Thursday show so I didn't get a copy. But the crowd was wowed and amazed. She talked a little bit about her alternative guitar tunings (she called one tuning "Herb") and independence in music and folk music in general. She also explained why she is so prolific: She said she forgets her own songs so fast that she has to write more to keep up. In her word, "some people say it's creativity, but it's actually just senility."
I did hear a rumor that she was recording the Thursday show for a live album. The festival folks recorded the whole weekend for a live CD too. Who knows?

Here's the word from Ani's Agent
As Ani's agent, I've been asked on behalf of Righteous Babe Records
to explain the reason why the Live German CD is not available for sale
in the U.S.
The basic reason is Ani was not happy with the recording (don't ask me
why), and requested that it was not be made available over here. Since
Ani runs her own label by choice, she has had her stamp on all aspects
of the recordings, but not so with the German release.
RBR requests that you try not to have record stores import or
special order the CD. RBR has specifically requested that stores
not carry the CD.
Thanks for your help on this.
Lawrence
