Measuring Educational Constructs: Basic Concepts

All educators bear the responsibility for constructing, using, and interpreting educational assessments appropriately, whether they are classroom teachers, administrators, counselors, school psychologists, or measurement and research specialists. Helpful technical and practical guidelines for us to follow during assessment design, administration, interpretation, and use can be found in technical standards published by the joint committee of the American Educational Research Association, American Psychological Association, and the National Council on Measurement in Education (1999).
