W-SR test assembly involves tasks such as giving the test a title, physically arranging the items to fit the test’s purposes, writing directions to facilitate optimal responses from examinees, and developing an answer key. Table 7.6 provided a checklist for conducting a systematic, content validation of a drafted W-SR assessment. The best reviewers for classroom assessment tools would be peer teachers and individuals with some knowledge of validation. During content validation, reviewers should check for three possible sources of bias in the W-SR assessment tool:

• bias due to inappropriate readability levels;
  
• inflammatory bias in the language or material in the test; and
  
• opportunity to learn bias in the application context.
