Assessment Specifications
Assessment Purpose: Formative Decision-Making (to design supplementary teaching materials for improving mastery)
Population: Beginner level language learners (adolescent or adult learners in Turkey)
Construct: Linguistic proficiency of the present forms of the verb to "be".
Assessment Method: Since the domain is limited to a single linguistic feature, the assessment method will include written structured-response assessment and written open-ended assessment.

Outcome 1. Evaluate the grammatical accuracy of the use of the present forms of the verb to "be" in affirmative, negative and interrogative sentences (Higher Order Thinking)
Competencies
1.1 Identify the present forms of the verb to be with subject nouns, subject pronouns, before nouns, adjectives and prepositional phrases in given sentences with 100% accuracy. (Factual Knowledge)
1.2 Use the present affirmative forms of the verb to "be" in sentences constructed by the students with 80% accuracy. (Application)
1.2.1 Insert the particle "not" to make negative sentences using the present forms of the verb to "be". (Application)
1.2.2 Reverse the verb to "be" and the subject when asking a Yes/No question using the present forms of the verb to "be". (Application)
1.3 Insert the accurate form of the verb in the accurate place in the given sentences. (Evaluation, Higher Order Thinking)
