Assessment Specifications

Assessment Purpose: To evaluate the effectiveness of the cardiac physical therapy training program of Mount Sinai Medical Center. (User Path 2)

Population: Affiliated physical therapy students at the Cardiac Care Center of Mount Sinai Medical Center

Construct: Physical therapy skills and procedures in a hospital-based cardiac rehabilitiation program.

Assessment Method: Structured observation / behavior-based assessment (Summative decision program)

Domain Specification:

Outcome 1. The student will perform a competent physical therapy evaluation. (Complex Procedural Skills)

Competencies

1.1 The student will investigate the medical condition of his/her patient. (Compex Procedural Skills)

1.1.1 The student will review individual history and physical findings of his/her ptients. (Application)

1.1.2 The student will investigate the patho-physiology of the disease process of his/her patients. (Evaluation)

1.2 The student will safely perform the task of physical therapy evaluation. (Complex Processing Skills)

1.2.1 The student will observe all safety precautions for himself/herself and the patient. (Application)

1.2.2 The student will executo only appropriate examination techniques. (Complex Procedural Skills)

1.3 The student will create a comprehensive plan of care for his/her patients. (Higher Order Thinking)

1.3.1 The student will integrate his/her patient and family's decisions. (Application)
