In pursuit of increased prociency in critical digital modelling and animation software, I elected to study and rebuild the Le Centre Culturel Tjibaou by Renzo Piano Building Workshop. Digital modeling was done in Rhino, animation in 3ds Max, and post-production/composting in After Effects. Digital study was supplemented by a physical prototype, the construction of which greatly expedited by careful digital detailing and tolerancing.

These studies focused on the hierarchical tectonics of the ten cases, constructed of laminated wood ribs, a gradation of wooden slats, and complex network of steel for bracing. The hierarchical nature of the construction is called to attention in the animation by an array of scales and depth-of-field techniques.
