WOOD SEATING UNITS
This series of projects seeks to explore tools and methodologies of fabrication using more conventional woodshop tools. Each of four seating units addresses specific issues including complex joinery, transformability, bending and multi-body accommodation.

Each project begins with a simple conceptual sketch. These ideas are then moved into a digital model, where concepts are taken through a rigorous series of iterations that seek to refine issues relating to proportion, ergonomics, structural engineering, material definition and constraints, fabrication sequence and constraints, and overall design intent.

The bent lamination chair and double-taper bench are each finished with two coats of danish oil.
