Comment by mdt: I began my work on the human genetics of the AAA at Yale in 1977; and around that time one of my laboratory research students was John Elefteriades. He worked on the tensile properties of skin in a spontaneously aneurysm-prone mouse. He is now Professor and Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Yale, and his research group is finding that many of our observations regarding the AAA may also be relevant to the TAA. Good going, John. #2. CA Nienaber et al. Nonsurgical reconstruction of thoracic aortic dissection by stent-graft placement. For a direct link to this paper, click here. Comment by mdt: This paper had a companion editorial by GJ Vlahakes: "Catheter-based treatment of aortic dissection," which is more authoritative on the subject than anything I could personally write. I will provide you with a pointer to it, click here.
