NETWORK ANALYST-SENIOR (Grade 13) Under general direction, provides technical leadership and overall guidance in the selection, installation, evaluation, adaptation, and/or development of new data communication and networking products and technologies, and development and documentation of procedures for their installation, use, maintenance, troubleshooting, and management, and trains other groups in these areas. Works at a high technical level. Provides guidance to users and departments on complex data communication and networking problems, including design, consulting, implementation, and troubleshooting. Writes or specifies data communication and networking software. Designs or prepares and conducts classes on high-level data communication and networking topics. Keeps abreast of developments in data communication technology, protocols, and software, and provides technical leadership and guidance to other network analysts and other groups within AcIS and other departments. Supervision received: Receives general direction. Supervision exercised: May act as project leader or train other network analysts. May be involved reviewing performance of other network analysts. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, EE, or related field, higher degree preferred, and at least three years professional experience in data communication or network analysis, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Thorough knowledge of network architectures, topologies, and protocols. Expertise in data communication and networking technology, networking software and programming. Knowledge of many computer systems. Familiarity with programming languages relevant to area of specialization. Very good oral and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare polished technical documentation and articles for publication. Technical supervisory experience helpful.
