Columbia University Air Pollution Drone
We have developed a sensor platform on a UAV in order to make (a)
real-time measurements of, e.g., VOCs, black carbon (BC), NOx, CO2,
SO2, temperature T, and relative humidity (RH), and (b) to collect air
samples during a UAV flight. These samples can afterwards undergo
rigorous elemental analysis in the lab. This collaboration takes
place with a engineering
company, UAVworks,
which has developed technology that allows us to take air samples at
pre-determined locations along a flight path.
