RESEARCH

I am broadly interested in the ecological consequences of declining biological diversity, and how plant functional diversity relates to ecosystem-level processes such as nutrient and carbon cycling. I am also interested in understanding how the relationship between diversity and function varies spatially, and how considering differing levels of biological organization--taxonomic, functional, and phylogenetic diversity--potentially influences this relationship.

My past work has centered on plant functional trait variation in common and rare tropical tree species, and on insect-plant interactions and invasion dynamics in the Neotropics.
