RESEARCH I am broadly interested in how biodiversity declines impact ecosystem services and processes. I am particularly interested in how human land use change impacts community assembly patterns and plant functional diversity in the Neotropics. PAST EXPERIENCE My past research has focused on the phenotypic variation and ant-plant associations of the introduced plant species, Ricinus communis, tropical forest plantation dynamics, the impacts of an introduced insect on two species of Lantana (one endemic and one invasive) in the Galapagos archipelago, and on ontogenetic shifts of leaf functional traits of a dominant tree species, Pentaclethra macroloba, at La Selva Biological Station in Costa Rica.
