Fun Facts About Me

I was born in Toronto, Canada during one of the largest blizzards of the year.

As a Ph.D. student in social psychology at Stanford University, I became passionate about studying the implications of giving people choice. It was here, at the top of the oval at Stanford's Marguerite bus stop, that I met my husband, Garud.

Garud and I got married in a traditional Indian-style wedding in Bangalore, India, promptly after graduation.

In July 1998, I joined the Management Division in Columbia Business School and moved back to New York. Having moved here with my family at the age of three, I’ve always considered myself a New Yorker. A few of my favorite places in New York include…

Central Park in the summer, my chocolate haven, La Maison du Chocolat, and The Amercian Museum of Natural History.

And of course, the very best thing about New York is the abundance of good pizza places.

My top favorites include, Nick’s, John’s, Patsy’s, and Lombardi’s.

When I’m not eating chocolate or pizza, I spend my spare time biking, cooking, and taking walks. But most of all, I love to travel. So far, I have only explored twenty-eight countries--I have many more to go.

In fact, in 1989, I was among the crowd at “Check-Point Charlie”
chiseling away at the soon-to-be-no-more Berlin Wall. Now that capitalism has taken root, what was once a wall is now a mall. I still have my pieces of the Berlin Wall, which I imagine are worth a fortune if auctioned on E-bay, but for me, they are priceless.

The newest addition to my life has been the birth of my son, Ishaan Iyengar. Watch Ishaan grow up by checking out pictures on our online photo album and viewing video clips of his adventures around the house.
