CALL FOR SUGGESTIONS The 2011 Future of MIR session
will be held during this year's ISMIR conference in Miami, and will be
presenting an industrial panel as well as one of the conference's
invited speakers. It has always been f(MIR)'s mission to improve
student visibility in our community, and we now ask for suggestions for
both the panelists and the invited speaker. Anyone may send
suggestions, but please distribute this call to the students in you
group.
The industrial panel is an
occasion to bring new companies of interest to ISMIR, as well as to put
a spotlight on the most innovative ones. The industrial panel is very
important to those of us in academia, as they provide feedback from the
commercial world. For a student nearing graduation, this also
creates a unique networking opportunity. Please suggest companies
(SPECIFY CONTACT INFORMATION if you can) you would like to see on the
panel.
Invited speakers at ISMIR
always trigger numerous discussions and help define the general
atmosphere of the conference. By helping us choosing a speaker, you
help to shape MIR's research agenda. We are ideally looking for a
researcher that is not a regular attendee of ISMIR, who works in a
research field somehow connected to MIR, that has the potential to open
new avenues of research for us. Please don't simply nominate your
adviser, she/he won't know anyway!. Write us with a name and a quick
description of why this person would make an
excellent speaker and we'll do the rest! Please answer us directly, DO NOT ANSWER TO THE MAILING LIST. Our emails are: Thierry Bertin-Mahieux <tb2332@columbia.edu> and Jason Hockman <jason.hockman@mail.mcgill.ca>. Note that for a variety of reasons, f(MIR) will not ask for submitted work for ISMIR 2011. This does not imply that this will be the case in upcoming years. We look forward to seeing you all at ISMIR! |
