Making and simulating positron-electron plasmas in a stellarator
Why make positron-electron plasmas?
- Unique physics of symmetric plasmas: No ion acoustic waves, no ?I modes
- Theoretically and numerically, the simplest possible quasineutral plasma!
- An experiment can benchmark codes such as GS2, which should be able to accurately predict the behavior of these plasmas.
- Do we have the physics right in our codes?
- Other applications (astrophysics, antimatter drive(!))
