Diagnostics for pure electron phase

  • Much more information is available than in a pure cylinder since the stellarator field imposes a three-dimensional structure on ?

  • Can also be used to change boundary conditions on equilibrium

• Internal (Langmuir) emitting probes

• RF waves for plasma frequency determination (density)

• Internal phosphor screen
  • Can be used in startup phase when partly toroidal plasmas are created using biasing rings, gives 2-D information

• Lost particle diagnostics - ‘bad’ orbits probe ?
