Thomas Sunn Pedersen's Homepage

Welcome to my homepage.

I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Physics and Applied Mathematics at Columbia University in New York City. While at Columbia, I have taught Introduction to Plasma Physics, Introduction to Quantum Mechanics and Applied Physics Seminar at the undergraduate level and Plasma Diagnostics, Physics of Non-neutral Plasmas, and Plasma Physics I at the graduate level.

I am currently involved with research on the Columbia Non-neutral Torus (CNT), the W7-X experiment, and HBT-EP.

I did my Ph.D. thesis research on the Alcator C-Mod project at the PSFC studying edge transport barrier physics using soft x-ray imaging diagnostics.

I did my Master's degree in Applied Physics Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). My Master's thesis concentrated on numerical and theoretical investigations of a two-dimensional model for resistive plasma drift wave turbulence. Look up the reference to my Master's thesis if you want to see some animations of plasma turbulence, and coherent vortical structures.

I spend most of my spare time with my family.
