Policy for Absences and Make-Up Exams in IEOR 4106,
Excused Absences
Inevitably, some students may have to miss exams or other deadlines for good reasons, such as medical problems.
We understand that and will allow for it. Students should notify the professor as soon as possible, before the event if possible,
and later provide supporting documentation, such as a doctor's note. (For undergraduates, when multiple classes are affected, they should notify their Class Dean, who in turn will notify the professors. No further documentation is then required.)
Make-Up Exams
There will be a second sitting (late make-up exam) for the final exam if necessary, e.g., if a student has three final
exams scheduled on the same day. However, there will be no make-up midterm exams. Students with legitimate excuses for a missed midterm exam (or other assignment)
will receive a grade for that missed component proportional to their final exam grade. This provision only applies to excused absences.
