Final Exam, Chapters 4-7, 10: Tuesday, May 12, 4:10-7:00pm, usual classroom, 313 Fayerweather.
It will be cumulative, beginning with Chapter 4. It will cover Chapters 4, 5, 6, 7 and 10 (only sections assigned).
It will also be open book, but only the book and the 40-pages CTMC notes, plus three 8 x 11 pages of notes).
There are five 25% parts; the final score is the sum of the top 4 of these. (The lowest 25% is not counted.)
For example, homework = 100, exam 1 = 40, exam 2 = 80, final = 70
yields (100 + 80 + 70 + 70)/4 = 320/4 = 80; while homework = 0, exam 1 = 100, exam 2 = 80, final = 70 also yields
(100 + 80 + 70 + 70)/4 = 320/4 = 80; and, finally homework = 80, exam 1 = 100, exam 2 = 80, final = 60 yields
(80 + 100 + 80 + 60)/4 = 320/4 = 80. (That does not mean you get 80 no matter what you do.)
The total numerical score will be the primary basis for assigning the final letter grade.
