Main Topics: heavy-traffic methods, queues with time-varying arrival rates, applications of queueing models to service systems
Special Topics for 2017 (with doctoral students currently focusing on that topic): queueing networks: (i) approximations based on robust optimization (Wei You), (ii) scheduling and routing (Xu Sun); conservation laws (Xiaopei Zhang); fitting queueing models to system data (Xiaopei Zhang); the single-server queue with time-varying arrival rates (Ni Ma); rare-event simulation (Ni Ma); using optimization to examine queueing approximations (Yan Chen)
