Our life-17IMG_1390DSC00034

I have been working in the Solid Mechanics Laoratory snce 2003 supervised by Prof. Jeffrey W. Kysar. Everything is new: Dr. Kysar is a young professor, the Lab history is not long and even the Engineering School is the youngest school at Columbia. However, all of these facts make our research topic pioneering. The lab is focusing on understanding plasticity and fracture theories of metals and mechanical properties of nano-scaled materials.
The size of the lab is small: Four to five members (1 post-doc and 3~4 graduate students). Our research topics also has many connections with other departments, such as Material Science, Applied Mathematics and Physics and Civil Engineering.

Current Members in the Solid Mechanics Lab. :

Advisor: Prof. Jeffrey W. Kysar
Post-doc: Dr. Fragneaud Benjamin
Ph.D. students:

Xiaoding Wei
Oya Okman
Muin S. Oztop
Mehmet Yilmaz
