Yoonil Auh is also an
active performer (violin), conductor and composer. He taught at
Juilliard Pre-College and Manhattan School of Music in NYC.
He studied with Dorothy Delay for
twelve years
at Juillard, Charles Treger for
four years, Shirley Givens, and studied composition with Vincent Persichetti
at Juilliard.
He was the first violinist of Cantabile
String quartet for six consecutive years (1980 - 86) under the Lincoln Center Chamber
Music Management (Sposored by the Juillird School
management ). Yoonil Auh gave solo performances at Avery Fisher Hall
at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Main Hall, Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln
Center, Carnegie Recital Hall, Symphony
Space, Ho-Am
Art Center in Seoul, Korea, Aspen Music Festival and Waterloo Music
Festival.
His
musical compositions have been extensively performed in the US and Korea. His composition
"Micro Carnival (1993) op. 10" was performed at the 1997 San Antonio International Piano
Competition by Dr. MiJung Im, who won the first prize of that year. His composition, "Fantasy for Violin and Piano with
the accompaniment of string orchestra and percussion (1987) op. 6"
was premiered at Symphony Space of New York City in the North and South Korea
Reunification Concert.
He
performed with a fusion rock band based in Michigan, 'Classic Graffitti'.
In 2005, Yoonil received the award for 'Best
Jazz Instrumentalist' in Michigan.
Yoonil also conducts
AKERI Youth Orchestra. The orchestra plays exclusively music
transcribed and composed by Yoonil.
