Physics Lecture Outline 2007-2008
Lectures in the Physics of Diagnostic Radiology for Radiology
Residents will be given each week on Thursdays or Fridays from 1:30pm -
2:30pm, commencing, August 9, 2007. The lectures will be held in the Radiology
Library Room #3-305 (on Harkness 3). If the library is occasionally
not available, other arrangements will be made for these dates. The lecture
series will continue to June 12, 2008. The tentative lecture schedule
is listed below along with the presenter and topic (UNLESS NOTICES ARE
POSTED CHANGING THE TIME, DATE OR LOCATION OF THE LECTURES).
The principle textbook for the lecture series will be:
1. Nickoloff EL, Diagnostic Radiology Physics Review, Elsevier/Saunders,
Publishers ISBN 1-4160-2260-0, 2005.
2. JT. Bushberg, JA Seibert, EM Leidholdt, Jr. and JM Boone, The
Essential Physics of Medical Imaging, Williams & Wilkins, 2001.
3. Wolbarst AB, Physics of Radiology, Appleton & Lange, 2005.
4. Huda W, Stone RM, Review of Radiologic Physics, Williams & Wilkins,
2002.
5. Hendee W, Ritenour R., Medical Imaging Physics, 4th Ed., Wiley-Liss,
2002.
For the Nuclear Medicine portion of the course, following books are
recommended:
1. SR Cherry, JA Sorenson and ME Phelps, "Physics in Nuclear Medicine",
Grune & Stratton, 2003.
2. Henkin R et al."Nuclear Medicine", Mosby, 2006.
3. Mettler FA and Guiberteau MJ, "Essential of Nuclear Medicine Imaging",
2006.
4. Chandra R, "Introduction Physics of Nuclear Medicine", Lea & Febiger,
2004.
Additional suggested readings and notes will be provided during the
course.
