I am having problems accessing The Libraries' electronic resources.1) The wrong UNI and/or wrong password is being entered (“Login Incorrect”).
This means the UNI or the password was incorrectly typed. It’s possible your account has not been activated yet. Or it may mean you are accidentally using a login ID for another system, and is not your UNI. (Your UNI is the login ID used to access http://my.columbia.edu or http://cubmail.columbia.edu/). For more information, please visit the “UNI login failed” FAQ.
2) Your University Role/function is Ineligible to Access an Electronic Resource (“Insufficient Privileges”).
The privileges associated with your University Network ID (UNI) indicate that you do not hold current status as a Columbia University student, faculty, Alumni or staff member. Access to many of the Libraries' electronic resources is restricted to members of those groups. Consultants, visitors and other casual employees are not eligible for access.
If you are a formal Columbia faculty or staff member, please contact your departmental administrator, immediate supervisor or department head for a remedy. If this was an error and your department makes the correction, it will be automatically reflected in the system within 48 hours, but usually in less than 24 hours. This does not require CUIT intervention. Please try again in 48 hours.
Alumni may have access to certain online resources but not all. No special distinction is made for recently-graduated alumni.
3) Your Account is Expiring.
You may not be aware, but your account may be in ‘grace period’ state because your affiliation to the university has been removed and your access is about to expire.
If this is an unexpected occurrence, please speak with your departmental administrator, immediate supervisor or department head for remedy. If this was an error and the department makes the correction, it will be automatically reflected in the system within 48 hours. This does not require CUIT intervention. Please try again in 48 hours. Students - If you are a student currently enrolled in a class, please contact your registrar to update or confirm your formal status in the database. Students taking a leave of absence or working on a long-term project must speak with the registrar to retain access.
4) There is a technical problem with the electronic resource in question.
This may be the case if you are led to an “error 404” page, or are led to the resource’s vendor site (e.g., the main Lexus-Nexis page, etc.). This usually indicates an outage of the resource itself.
