Join us to experiment, break things, and imagine new possibilities. Data Club meetings are meetings, not workshops. An introduction to a bit of software is followed by opportunities to try the software in your own environment and on your own terms.

Data engineering refers to preparing data for analysis. We'll compare two Python libraries, the ubiquitous Pandas and the snappier newcomer, Polars.

Topics covered: data engineering, pandas, Polars, Python

Data Club meetings occur eight times a semester. Open to everyone in the Columbia community, these informal events typically start with a presentation on a specific use of data in Python, R, Julia, or JavaScript, then open up to questions, collaborative work, and discussion. Computation typically occurs within an online notebook workflow, and participants of all skill levels are welcome.

Please bring a laptop!
