Ruth Halperin-Kaddari is an internationally recognized expert in family law and women’s rights. She is the Founding Academic Director of the Ruth and Emanuel Rackman Center for the Advancement of Women’s Status at Bar-Ilan University’s Faculty of Law in Israel, where she also serves as a Professor of Law.
A graduate of Yale Law School, Professor Halperin-Kaddari has dedicated her career to addressing violence and human rights abuses against women globally. She served three terms on the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), including two terms as Vice-Chair and as the first Chair of the Working Group on Inquiries. Her extensive work has earned her numerous research grants and international accolades, including the U.S. Department of State’s International Women of Courage Award. In 2018, she was recognized as one of Apolitical’s 100 Most Influential People in Gender Policy worldwide.
Professor Halperin-Kaddari is a renowned speaker and has published extensively in her areas of expertise. Additionally, she is a co-founder of the Dinah Project, dedicated to seeking justice and recognition for the victims of the sexual violence and gender-based atrocities committed on October 7, 2023. Her distinguished career as a human rights advocate and her extensive experience at the UN have significantly contributed to her impactful work.
