The Syllabus: A Way to Build Trust with Your Students

January 14, 2022
11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
America/New_York
Online Event

Too often, syllabus is radically unread but still required in class. What even is a syllabus? What does it do? Who is it for?

Join this session to explore these questions with your faculty colleagues at Columbia!

Building on the CTL’s Dead Ideas in Teaching and Learning podcast, Season 2, Episode 3, The Syllabus with William Germano and Kit Nicholls, this session will further explore the dead ideas—ideas that are not true but that are often widely believed and embedded in the pedagogical choices we make—about the syllabus in classrooms.

After listening to the episode, join the session to engage in an open conversation with other session participants on how we can use the syllabus to create a welcoming learning environment for students.
