Watch the Solar Eclipse With the Astronomy Department

April 8, 2024
1:30 PM - 4:30 PM
America/New_York
Low Plaza, 535 W. 116 St., New York, NY 10027

Members of the Columbia Astronomy Department will be outside Low Library distributing eclipse glasses and observing the partial eclipse alongside their fellow Columbians.

Everyone is reminded that it is unsafe to look directly at the sun during a partial eclipse -- certified eclipse glasses should be worn to avoid eye damage (see here for more information).

Please join us!

**Stop by all afternoon, especially around 2:45-3:45 pm (the eclipse maximum will occur around 3:30 pm, when, in NYC, the moon will cover about 90% of the sun.)
