Title: Emergent Mycoestrogens: Impact in Maternal and Child Health

Abstract: Zearalenone is a fungal-derived chemical and a potent nonsteroidal estrogen receptor agonist. Zearalenone and its metabolites are known as mycoestrogens. Experimental literature shows strong evidence of reproductive and developmental impact after mycoestrogen exposure however, little is known about their impact on humans. For the past 5 years, we have been studying mycoestrogens exposure during pregnancy and its potential impact in maternal and child health. This seminar will present our most recent work and future directions on mycoestrogens exposure in human populations.
