1) According to Epicurus, what is the greatest good?  What would Aristotle have to say about this notion?

2) How does Epicurus define happiness?  Is pleasure an important component of happiness?  Compare his notion of happiness with that of Aristotle.

3) What is Epicurus' conception of human nature?

4) How would Epicurus understand the origins and purposes of a political association?  How does this differ from Plato's and Aristotle's conceptions?

5) Explain Epicurus' claim that injustice is not evil in itself.  If a true Epicurean has no fear of death, what motivations does he have to avoid robbery and murder?  Do you find Epicurus' view of justice more persuasive than Plato's?  Why or why not?
