We are pleased to announce the broadcasting of a new weekly television program in Persian sponsored by the Encyclopaedia Iranica on the Cyrus TV Channel in New York City entitled “Nights of Iranica”.

This educational program is intended to inform, instruct, and entertain. It will include interviews with scholars, researchers, museum curators and specialists in various fields of Iranian Studies as well as respected experts in arts and crafts, music, cinema, and other performing arts. Ms. Sheida Dayani is the interviewer.

The program will run for 30 minutes on Monday nights at 8:00 PM Eastern time (5:00 PM Pacific time). The show will be repeated throughout the weekend. This program is accessible on satellite at the coordinates indicated at the bottom of this email.

Cyrus TV is a 24/7 Iranian free-to-air satellite television channel based in New York City. It is completely independent and apolitical and broadcasts throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean Islands.

The program is produced by Mojgan Jayranpour, the channel’s founder. A graduate of New York University, she worked as an editorial producer at ABC TV Network News for over 10 years. Mojgan has won numerous awards, including a Peabody, a DuPont-Columbia, and three Emmy Awards.

The next two one-hour programs on Monday, October 29th, and November 5th will be devoted to an exhibition of artworks related to Mowlana Jalal al-Din, organized by Professor Michael Barry, Director of the Department of Islamic Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Prof. Barry will discuss in Persian the significance and relevance of each artwork to Mawlana’s ideas.
