Lorenzo Bernadi (University of Bologna, Italy) and Ben Leshchinsky worked on the centrifuge leading to their master's degrees last year. At the moment, Jonathan Mandez (from Madrid) is now working on the consolidation problem. In addition, we (Liming Li & Hoe Ling) are working with a high school student on a science research project.


2008
Over the last period of two years, we were lucky enough to have produced three doctoral theses from the use of centrifuge modleing: Logan Brant on the lateral loading of pile (geomechanics), Min-hao Wu on the simulation of rainfall induced slope failure (geoscience, geomechanics), and Yan Zhu on the air sparging study (geoenvironment). Roberto Reale conducted centrifuge tests on the reinforced soil retaining walls (geomechnics) for his diploma thesis submitted to the University of Rome La Sapienza.

Our next phase of study is in progress. In addition to the graduate students, we are also getting high school and undergraduate students involved in the experimental simulation.
