O’Malley Award for Excellence in Teaching, and the James F. Paschal Award for Outstanding Service to a state scholastic press association.

Presentations will take place at 12:30pm as part of the Friday Advisers Luncheon.

Gold Key Award

The Gold Key has become prized among publication advisers and journalism teachers as much as a Phi Beta Kappa key is respected in the realm of scholarship. Individual citations are read at the presentation of each Key to acknowledge the accomplishments of each new Gold Key holder.

The Association invites advisers to attend a special presentation on Friday, March 22nd honoring their selected colleagues for receiving the Association’s Gold Key. Presentations will take place at 12:30pm during the Friday Advisers Luncheon. Reserve your luncheon seat when you submit your convention registration form.

Gold & Silver Crown Awards for student publications

Gold and Silver Crown Awards will be publicly announced and presented to those winners who are present at the Convention on Friday, March 22nd in the Roone Arledge Auditorium of the Alfred Lerner Hall Student Center, located on the Morningside campus of Columbia University. The Crown Awards are the highest awards bestowed by the Association upon publications as a whole.

These awards represent the CSPA’s highest level of accomplishment in its annual competitions. More than 1,800 CSPA member publications will enter the Crown Awards program for 2013, while it’s expected that about only 100 Crown Awards will be given. An awards list will also be distributed at the Convocation, scheduled for 2:30 pm.
