CSPA honors nine persons during 82nd annual Convention

On March, 17, 2006, the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) presented nine awards to advisers and supporters of the Association during a special Advisers Awards luncheon at its 82nd annual Scholastic Convention at Columbia University in the City of New York.

The 2006 Gold Key recipients are:

  • Bonnie Blackman
    sales representative,
    Jostens, Inc.;

  • Dr. Gloria Eastman
    professor of teacher education,
    Metropolitan State College, Denver, CO;

  • Margaret "Peggy" Gregory
    newspaper and yearbook adviser,
    Greenway High School, Glendale, AZ;

  • Brenda Gorsuch
    newspaper and yearbook adviser,
    West Henderson High School, Hendersonville, NC;

  • Robin Sawyer
    newspaper adviser,
    First Flight High School, Kill Devil Hills, NC;

  • Vicky Wolfe
    sales representative,
    Herff Jones, Inc.

Elizabeth "Beth" Dickey, executive director of the Southern Interscholastic Press Association at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, received the 2006 Charles R. O'Malley Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Charles R. O'Malley, former director of the CSPA, received the 2006 Joseph M. Murphy Award for Service to the Association.

The Columbia Scholastic Press Advisers Association (CSPAA) presented Margaret "Peggy" Gregory with the 2006 James Frederick Paschal Award for her distinguished service to the Arizona Interscholastic Press Association.
