The volcanic activity on the island of Santorini rose for a few days in late May 2011 when 21 scientists gathered on the island to discuss the challenges facing Psychiatry and the future of research into the fundamental causes of the major mental illnesses. The meeting was the first of three bi-annual GNCP meetings funded by NIMH, with additional support from the Martinos family.
