Vv'e this year present the readers of the Great Metropolis with an
accurate view of Tiinity Church. The ficts connected with its
liistorv, and the description of the building have been furnished by
Henry M. Onderdonk, Esq., author of the " History of the Protest¬
ant Episcopal Churclies, in the city of New-York."
Brief History of the Church. — The members of the Pro¬
testant Episciipal Church (il-.eu known as tlie Church of England
in America,) held their first religious services in this city, in a small
chapel attached to a fort which stood near the present Battery.
The coiigri-gation rapidiy increasing. Trinity Church was founded
