Columbia faculty member Philip Kim has been awarded the 2008 Ho-Am Science prize for his pioneering work on low dimensional carbon nanostructures.

The prize was established in 1990 by the Samsung corporation and is given to individuals who have furthered the welfare of humanity through distinguished accomplishments in their respective professional fields. A translation into English of the official announcement may be found here.
