"Why don't Latinos have more clout?" Professor Rodolfo de la Garza  asks in a WNYC blog entry, "Forget Mañana: Making the Latino Vote Count Today."

Despite large and growing numbers and their ability to swing states when elections are tight because Anglo votes are divided, Latinos have had virtually no impact on any gubernatorial, senatorial or presidential elections from 1960-2008, de la Garza observes.  De la Garza argues that the major reason that Latinos have not influenced elections is that neither Democrats, Republicans nor Latino civic groups have mobilized Latino voters.
