DESCRIPTION OF THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Radiology offers full service, comprehensive, and state-of-the-art imaging, totaling over 460,000 examinations per year. General diagnostic radiology occupies the western half of the third floor of the Milstein Building. Also on this level are the main film file room and the central reading room. Interventional Radiology and Interventional Neuroradiology are located on the 4th floor of the Milstein Building, while Mammography is located on the eighth floor of the Irving Pavilion. Pediatric radiology is located on the 3rd floor of the Children's Hospital (CHONY).
While our facilities continue to grow, currently the department's equipment consists of 7 high field MRI units (including two 3T units), 9 multislice CT scanners (including two 64 slice scanners), 2 PET scanners, a PET/CT scanner, a SPECT/CT scanner, 6 all-digital angiographic suites, 5 fluoroscopy rooms, 27 ultrasound scanners, 7 planar nuclear medicine cameras, 7 SPECT cameras, 8 mammography units, and 1 stereotactic core breast biopsy device. The Department utilizes immediate voice-activated transcription technology (Powerscribe) and department-wide PACS.
