| The French cinematographer Abel Gance produced two versions of a film about the dead of the First World War returning to haunt the living. The 1919 silent version had the dead come home to see if their sacrifices had been in vain. The 1937 version has a former soldier of the Great War call the dead to life to prevent a recurrence of war. |
