Quick Beginnings for DB2 Extended Enterprise Edition for UNIX

Step 4. Share the Instance Home Directory

You must share the home directory of the instance across all database partition servers.

Using NFS, you can mount the home directory of the instance from one machine to all other machines that will participate in the partitioned database system. On the NFS server, the home directory of the instance must be exported with root access. On the NFS clients, this directory must not be mounted with the nosuid option.

note

Instead of exporting just the home directory of the instance (/export/home/INSTNAME, where INSTNAME is the name of the instance), it is recommended that you export the home filesystem /export/home. This eliminates the need to export the home directory of each instance individually.

If you are mounting the /export/home/INSTNAME directory from the NFS server, make sure that the home directory of the instance on the local machine is empty before you mount the directory.
